Forestry
Forests… they provide us with oxygen, recreational opportunities and an abundance of flora and fauna. Please honor them and treat them with respect.
Take the opportunity to protect this legacy so that our children may also enjoy the bounty and beauty they offer.

When we began the site in 1998, we were two former teachers working as forest educators in the Southern Interior of BC who had developed a number of teaching resources which we shared with teachers via workshops. We felt there had to be an easier way to get new, up-to-date information to teachers on a regular basis and as a result, a partnership was formed with information technology students at Kalamalka Secondary school in Vernon, BC. The students designed a website to house our resources, promote events and share student work related to forestry.

The OIFS acts as a legal Society for identifying and implementing investment opportunities into the 1.6 million hectares of public forest lands of the Okanagan Timbers Supply Area in British Columbia, Canada. Investments into the forest lands will realize improved growth of the forests which will lead to incremental forestry jobs through timber harvesting and enhanced silviculture activities.
