Be A HERO creates heroes out of ordinary people by providing them with opportunities to change the world, one child at a time. Be A HERO opens the eyes of people everywhere to the wholesale destruction of children, and enlists everyone to the mission of mercy and social justice – caring for children suffering as a result of poverty, child labour, slavery, homelessness, sexual exploitation, aids and plagues and war.
Be A HERO is a registered Canadian (and US) Charity with a mandate to educate, inspire, equip and facilitate people of all ages to challenge them to “Be A HERO” to the 1.2 billion children at risk.

Bicycles for Humanity arose in September 2005 with the simple aim of enabling others to raise funds and collect unwanted bicycles to send to reliable partners in developing countries to provide affordable transport.

The Caia Connection, in cooperation with our partner organization, The Ray of Hope, is working :
To enhance the quality of life of the residents of Caia, Mozambique by providing health, educational, recreational and social activities and services that are accessible and responsive to the changing needs of the community. To support and assist the women and children affected by or infected with HIV/AIDS in the Caia District in a manner that will not interfere with the community’s cultural beliefs. To support the worldwide fight against poverty and HIV/AIDS.

Good Hope Initiative (GHIN) is a non government community based organization, it's a nonprofit making organization, borne out of necessity to supplement government effort, other civil service organizations contributions for improving livelihoods of our Ugandan people, religious institutions and other local efforts by groups and individuals to ameliorate the living conditions of children.

We are a grassroots group creating a platform to “partner” Kelowna with Senanga (a district in Zambia) in order to engage in mutual sharing, learning, and friendship; aiming to improve lives in both of our communities.

Our backgrounds and interests include but are not limited to: communications, health, water quality, business, and international development. We are committed to action and empowerment for all.

We are an independent, non-profit working group in association with VIDEA, and supported by CIDA (Canadian International Development Agency) and our own fundraising efforts.

The Micah Challenge has been developed by the Micah Network and the World Evangelical Alliance (WEA) in response to a groundswell among evangelical Christian churches wanting to contribute at all levels to the alleviation of poverty and to greater justice for poor communities.

Partners in the Horn of Africa is a Canadian charitable organization which undertakes aid projects in the Horn of Africa. It is run by Canadian volunteers and works in "partnership" with indigenous volunteer groups in Africa. Partners' projects include construction of elementary and high school facilities, medical information centres, footbridges and operation of a group home for HIV orphans.

Central to the vision of SMILE AFRICA is our mandate to empower children and youth to
attain their God-given potential in life. This ongoing process drives us to teach young
people the values of literacy, the principles of leadership and enterprise as SMILE AFRICA
establishes hundreds of school libraries, computer centers, bookmobiles and leadership
programs throughout Africa.

The Terry Fox Foundation strives to maintain the heroic efforts and integrity that Terry himself embodied. It is a grassroots organization that does not seek government funding for administration or fundraising costs other than small grants for temporary, part-time help. The Foundation must therefore rely heavily on the generosity of the private sector to support its activities.

In partnership with the Community Legal Assistance Society (CLAS), we run a provincial human rights clinic that provides assistance and representation to those who need help with a provincial human rights complaint.

For over 57 years, the United Way has been a meaningful presence in the Okanagan and today the organization provides significant leadership and support to over 60 agencies and a variety of needs by investing in services and programs that help improve lives and strengthen the community.
