Clearing Your Sky
Written by: Tyler Ray Sauve
What if you had no control over your emotions?
Just think for a moment that your emotions are like the clouds in the sky. Always moving, always changing. There are so many things in life that affect the clouds, such as atmospheric pressure, humidity, air temperature, etc. Our emotions are the same. There are so many things that are influencing how we feel that by trying to “control” them, we’re bound to get exhausted. For those who think we can control our emotions, I ask you this one question…
Is it easier to change from a state of frustration to one of bliss, than it is to raise your arm from your hip to your nose?
Whether you believe we can control our emotions or not, you probably agree that it’s easier to change our physical state than it is our emotional one. It’s important to recognize how we feel, and to appreciate those emotions. But don’t let how you feel dictate what you do. Now I’m not talking about intuition here. Intuition & instinct should certainly be a guiding instrument.
What if you sat in a dimly lit room in the middle of the floor, crunched over, muttering to yourself about how horrible your life is, how nobody likes you and how you fail at everything you do. Rest assured your emotional status would certainly decline. If you compare your emotions to the weather, you can choose to mope in the clouds or dance in the rain. You have been given a great gift, the ability to “influence” your emotions. Every emotion fades unless re-stimulated, remember that.
Focus on how you want to feel. Think about what you were doing the last time you felt that way. Were you with loved ones? Were you being active? Was there fresh air involved? Find something that puts you in the emotional state you want to be in, and go do it. You are not responsible for your emotions, but you are responsible for you actions.
You are 100% responsible for your actions. Now go DO what makes you happy!
