Geography

geographyThe Okanagan Valley was originally formed by ancient glacial activity, which ended about 10,000 years ago.

Our beautiful valley resides in the Interior Plateau, which comprises a large region of central British Columbia, and lies between the Cariboo and Monashee Mountains on the east, and the Hazelton Mountains, Coast Mountains and Cascade Range on the west.

The B.C. Cascades are comprised of the Okanagan, Hozameen and Skagit ranges.

Today there remains a system of gorgeous, warm lakes which drain into the Okanagan River, which in turn, joins the mighty Columbia River. Turning westward, the Columbia flows through the Cascades and coastal mountains, and becomes one with the Pacific Ocean.

Elevation of Kelowna is 344 metres (1,129 feet).

Population: 100,500.

We are blessed to live in such a beautiful valley, abundant in natural resources, clean water and friendly people.
