A Room Made Beautiful!

And it’s hard to know where to start, with kids whining, dogs barking, and husbands calling! With rooms coming in a variety of shapes and sizes, they can often make the most creative designer cringe. However, here are some suggestions that can help to liven up those rooms, inexpensive ways to camouflage and brighten up any space.
Mirrors are the age-old treatment to make small rooms look bigger. Make sure to hang a mirror where it will reflect a great view or bounce light.
Pictures also can add dimension to small rooms that have few or no windows. Never place pictures and other artwork above eye level. A good eye level is 5 feet from the floor
Most rooms lack proper lighting. Always try to include task (activity specific), ambient (all over general) and mood (soft) lighting whenever possible. Table lamps do not have to match anymore. So an interesting lamp is a great way to bring new light into a room, while introducing personality.
For a new look in a bathroom, rolled-up towels fit beautifully in an inexpensive wine rack. Each curved bottle holder stores a towel and saves under-counter storage space.
Throw rugs can be used to improve a room’s appearance as well. Not only do they add a splash of color to the décor but they also help tie things together.
Most importantly…Get rid of clutter! Take a “ruthless pill,” as my friend says! Throw away, sell, or donate anything you don’t LOVE. If you can’t get rid of that pile of magazines, put it in a decorative storage container with a lid.
Decorating your home allows you to combine creativity, elegance and good taste. Make good use of space, accessories and furniture that is available to you so that you can create a living area that is inviting, relaxing and elegant.
